GIVING ROSES TO VIPS
AT A WEDDING CEREMONY
(addition)

It's always nice to recognize those people who are supporting you in your life as a couple. One way to do this during the ceremony is to present them with a rose as a symbol of your love, gratitude and respect. This may be done as part of the processional, during the opening words, and as part of the recessional. While the most likely recipients are the Mother's of the Bride and Groom, Grandparents and/or other family members may also be included. This is usually kept as a surprise until the day of the wedding.

Giving Roses is an Element you can add to the Classic Ceremonies. Please remember that you can use these selections "as is" or change the wording in whatever way you wish to better suit your ceremony. Also, at the bottom of the page we provide links to other selections from around the web. Feel free to visit and choose wording from those links as well.

GIVING ROSES TO VIPS: EXAMPLES OF WORDS AND ACTIONS
(AS PART OF THE PROCESSIONAL)
1. [The Bride adds two white roses to her bridal bouquet. When she reaches the altar, but before the ceremony begins, she walks to her mother, and presents a rose to her. She then presents the other to the Groom's mother. She returns to the Groom, and the ceremony begins. (The presentation may be done by both the Bride and Groom)].

(AS PART OF THE OPENING WORDS)
2. Welcome everyone to the marriage of ________________ & ____________________. Marriage is a coming together of two lives and a celebration of the love of two people. But it is more. The love that ______ and ______ feel for one another is the flowering of a seed their parents (grandparents, etc.,) planted in their hearts years ago. As they embrace one another in their love, so do they embrace the families which have been brought together on this happy occasion. As a sign of their love for their families, ______ and ______ would like to offer these symbols of eternal love, these roses, to their mothers, ______ and ______. (and/or other family members).

[Celebrant hands roses to Bride & Groom.]

[Bride & Groom walk over to VIP(s), present them with roses, and give them a hug and/or kiss.]
These roses are a promise that, no matter how far apart you are, you are not forgotten and serve as a reminder that you are always in their hearts and prayers.

(AS PART OF THE RECESSIONAL)
3. [The Bride adds two white roses to her bridal bouquet. On her way up the aisle, she stops and hands one white rose with a kiss to her mother. After the ceremony, on her way down the aisle, she stops and hands the other white rose to her new mother-in-law, again with a kiss.]
